Hi, my name is Emili Gomez from Valencia, Venezuela. Since I started my studies in Mentora my English has improved a lot, as much as writing, speaking, and listening. I think this is the meaning of success, that you totally improved all your skills. Mentora is so good and everyone who studies here is very lucky to be part of such a good language school. My favorite teacher is Brandon. He is very friendly and understanding.
ENGLISH FOR DEAF / HARD OF HEARING
We, at Mentora College, are proud to offer our general English curriculum (A1-C1) for deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) students as well. We adapt our core curriculum for these classes and keep the focus on reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary skills. We supplement this with ASL material, such as the Signing Naturally Series by Smith, Lentz, and Mikos as well as Learning American Sign Language by Humphries and Padden.
Students who enroll in these classes should be able to communicate using ASL.
Students who would like to enroll in the IEP DHH classes should first take the Mentora College placement exam. This will assess your writing, grammar and vocabulary skills. You will have a one-on-one interview with the DHH teacher to determine your signing level. You will be placed in an appropriate level based on your grade from the placement exam as well as your performance during the interview.
